This class is a Rites of Passage
I tell my students on the first day of class that they have just entered a SAFE place. I tell them to leave their cliques at the door because we are going to create something different, that we are going to be like family by the end of the semester. This class is about going from boys to men and girls to women. We celebrate the journey from high school into the world. Our motto is Building a House, Building a Life.

Get kids OUT of the classroom and into the world! Here we are showing the circumference of the largest tree and having a blast. Students were taught in a meaningful way about circumference, diameter, forests, and teamwork while having fun.
Here we are having a team building activity using some 4x4s and rope. The two groups are having a race. The planks will not move unless there is cooperation and communication. This is just one of many types of activities that bring a class together.
